Duskroom: privacy policy
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE — TO BE SET AT LAUNCH]
Duskroom ("the app") is a sound app for focus, sleep and relaxation, made by TheAppNest ("we"). This policy explains what happens to information when you use the app.
The short version
- No account. You never sign up or sign in.
- We don't collect personal data. We have no servers. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us.
- Your mixes, settings and listening stats stay on your phone.
- Free users see ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect device data to show and measure those ads. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first, and you can change that choice at any time.
- Purchases go through Google Play. We never see your payment details.
What stays on your phone
The app stores the following on your device only:
- your saved mixes;
- the last mix you played;
- your timer choices and settings;
- your listening stats (minutes per day, streaks, most-played mixes);
- your last sleep session (its mix, start and end time), for the "Good morning" summary;
- a running timer's position, so it can resume after the app is closed;
- the time any rewarded-ad unlock expires;
- whether you have Premium and which plan;
- the last prices Google Play showed, so the paywall works offline.
We can't see any of it. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes it.
If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include this data in your personal device backup. That backup is stored by Google in your account, under your control, and isn't accessible to us. You can turn backup off in your phone's settings.
Advertising (free version)
The free version shows banner ads and, only when you ask for them, rewarded video ads. The ads are provided by Google AdMob.
To serve, limit and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- device identifiers, such as the advertising ID and app set ID;
- your IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- device and app information;
- ad interactions;
- diagnostic data.
On supported Android versions, the SDK may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox APIs (Topics and Attribution reporting) instead of identifiers. You can manage these in Settings › Privacy › Ads.
Google's use of this data is described in:
Consent. Where required, for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the app uses Google's User Messaging Platform to ask for your consent before ads are requested. Ads that need consent aren't requested until you have made a choice.
You can review or change your choice at any time in Settings › About › Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's settings: Settings › Privacy › Ads on most Android phones.
Premium users see no ads. The app doesn't ask Premium users for ad consent, and doesn't request ads for them.
Purchases (Premium)
Premium subscriptions (yearly, monthly with a free trial) and the one-time Lifetime purchase are sold and processed by Google Play. Your payment details go to Google, never to us.
The app receives from Google Play only what it needs to unlock Premium on your phone: which product you own, its purchase token, and whether it is active or pending. This information stays on your device. See the Google Play Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Notifications
Session alerts (on by default) show a local notification when a focus session or break ends. These notifications are created on your phone. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else. Android asks for your permission first (Android 13 and later), and you can turn alerts off at any time.
Contacting support
If you email us from Settings › Contact support, your email app opens with the app version, your Android version and your phone model filled in, to help us answer. You can delete them before sending.
We use your email only to reply to you, and delete it when the conversation is over.
Children
Duskroom is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and publish the new version at the same address.
